Bio-Med Tech-Girls is a collaboration with the UVa Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), St. Anne's-Belfield School and Charlottesville Women in Tech. The experience provides an opportunity for high school students to get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes peek at biomedical research happening right now at UVA.

8.07.17: Monday Reflections
With the Bio-Med Tech-Girls program, I am most excited for the various UVA tours and the biomedical engineering design challenge to understand the design process in action, especially with real-world scenarios involving actual patients.
As for today’s activities, I enjoyed the informative talks on epilepsy, computer science and the diversity of biomedical engineering. It was also fun to experiment with TinkerCAD and Hummingbird/CREATE Lab, as these helped me gain an improved understanding of basic CAD and programming.
